Local Spotlight: Poolville Country Store
Who doesn’t love being able to get away from home and stay in a nice hotel? Whether you’re traveling and need a place to stay for a few nights, have a layover from a flight, or are just in need of a change in scenery, there’s a certain appeal to staying in a hotel. However, sometimes you need an experience that can offer more than mini shampoo bottles and a coffee maker in your room. When you are looking for some true rest and relaxation, instead of going for the usual experience, why not stay at Poolville Country Store?
About Poolville
Poolville Country Store has over 45 years of experience in the hotel and restaurant business, and such longevity can be seen in the professional and warm hospitality they offer to their guests! They pride themselves on offering a stay and dining experience that will leave a lasting impression on their guests. In addition to having a menu that boasts hormone-free beef, veal, pork, poultry, fresh and wild seafood, and locally cultivated eggs, many of the items, such as their breads, dressings, ice creams, and sorbets are completely homemade. To further show their commitment to hospitality, with advance notice upon making a reservation, the staff will be more than happy to accommodate any dietary requests or restrictions and are well-versed in handling vegan, lactose, and gluten-free needs.
Dining/Menu
Whether you’re looking to stay the night at Poolville or simply have built up an appetite that needs to be dealt with, you won’t be disappointed by the dining service offered. There are two rooms offered for dining: the main room and the private room. The main room is able to comfortably seat 50 guests at tables covered in white linen, and the atmosphere is fitted with unobtrusive candlelight, fresh flowers handpicked from the garden, and an antique walk-in fireplace. If you’re in need of more privacy, then the private room is also a great choice and features comfortable seating for 20 – 25 guests.
While the menu can occasionally change depending on locally available products, some menu items in the past have included crispy fried calamari, crab cakes, pan-roasted chicken breast, southern style shrimp and grits, cheese tortellini, a classic Caesar salad, baked escargot, and more!
Bed and Breakfast
Currently, Poolville offers two unique bed and breakfast experiences. The first is a stay at their guest cottage. Once a butcher shop for the hamlet of Poolville, the cottage has undergone many renovations to make your stay comfortable. These renovations include a premium queen-size bed, cable TV, air conditioning, toiletries, and a kitchenette that comes with a mini fridge. Lastly, the cottage comes with a delicious chef du jour breakfast served in the main dining room.
As for the second option, you are able to stay at The Polly Morse Gazebo House. Located behind the restaurant, the gazebo was first built in 1820, and just like the cottage has undergone several modern renovations. These include three king bed suites with suite one fitted with a full kitchen, cable TV, private baths in all suites, mini fridges and coffee makers, and lastly a chef du jour breakfast served in the main dining room.
