With the 2021 Ford F-450, you’ll only have one engine option available, but it’s the most robust one in the pack—the Turbo Diesel V8 motor. With a best-in-class maximum power output, this motor is a great option if you're looking for extreme pulling power.

Ford F-450 Super Duty Towing Power

Ford F-350 Towing a Trailer

Tow Your Trailer with Ease

When properly armed, the diesel powertrain in the Ford F-450 can help you haul a maximum 37,000 pounds. While the F-350 falls short with a maximum towing capacity of 35,750 pounds when properly equipped, it can still handle major jobs and tow some of the following items:

  • A large boat for relaxing floats on the lake
  • A large camper for family getaways on the weekends
  • A multi-horse trailer for out-of-town shows
  • A toy hauler for carrying your snowmobiles to the mountains
  • Some of your heftiest work equipment around your worksite

While either one of these Super Duty trucks can handle these hauls, if you need a little extra oomph, opt for the F-450.

Advanced Towing Tech

No matter which capacity you opt for, you can arm your Ford truck with the following top-of-the-line towing features to help simplify your haul:

  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist™: Seamlessly syncs your truck and trailer, allowing you to control its direction when reversing with the simple turn of a dial.
  • BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage: Keeps an eye on your side blind zones, automatically accounting for the length of your trailer, so you know when it’s safe to make a lane change.
  • Ultimate Trailer Tow Camera System: Provides you with five different camera views to keep an eye on your trailer and to help simplify hauling.
  • 360-Degree Camera View: Uses cameras placed around your truck to provide you with a clear view of your surroundings when backing in and out of parking spaces and construction sites.

With these systems by your side, you'll be able to easily back up heavy machinery into your worksite or load your recreational boat into the water with ease.

Ford F-450 Super Duty Payload

Room for All Your Cargo

In addition to being able to haul your large camper or work trailer, the 2021 Ford F-350 and the 2021 Ford F-450 can also handle all your cargo needs.

In the F-350, you can choose either a 6.75-foot cargo box or an 8-foot cargo box for lengthier building materials. When properly equipped, this truck can handle a maximum payload of 7,850 pounds. This Super Duty model is perfect for you if you need to carry a lawnmower to your landscaping jobs or like to head out of town with your ATVs often.

In the F-450, you'll only have the longer 8-foot box, which is ideal for lengthier construction items like plywood and sheet metal. When this option is properly equipped, you can load up your cargo bed with a maximum 6,210 pounds of payload and head out to your next worksite project. While this amount is lower than the F-350, it’s still plenty of capability for larger jobs.

Ford F-450 Super Duty Interior Space

Relax in Your Cabin

As you venture from campsite to campsite or to a construction site a few hours away, it’s important you stay as comfortable as possible. In the 2021 Ford F-450, you’ll have your choice between two cabin options: the Regular Cab or the Crew Cab.

The Regular Cab has one row of seating to make space for three passengers, while the Crew Cab adds on a rear row of seating to increase seating capacity to six passengers. The Regular Cab also has 11.6 cubic feet of cargo space for your tools, while the Crew Cab extends to 52.1 cubic feet of cargo space.

The F-350 has these two cabins available, too, as well as the SuperCab option, which is a great middle ground between the two. While it also has a second row of seating for up to six passengers, its rear row has smaller dimensions if you don’t need as much space for your backseat friends:

Front Headroom: 40.8 inches

Rear Headroom: 40.3 inches

Front Legroom: 43.9 inches

Rear Legroom: 33.5 inches

Crew Cab

Front Headroom: 40.8 inches

Rear Headroom: 40.4 inches

Front Legroom: 43.9 inches

Rear Legroom: 43.6 inches

The cargo space inside the SuperCab also falls on middle ground with 31.6 cubic feet. With all these options to choose from, the answer to which Super Duty is right for you lies in your specific needs.
